Just to give you a little history about me and how I landed at Moulton. I grew up in Paramount California [SoCal]. I earned my bachelors degree at Portland State. I taught for 7 years in a middle school in Downey, CA. We moved to Iowa 13 winters ago. The first 6 years  my family and I lived here in Des Moines I was a teacher at Hiatt Middle School. The second 6 years we lived here I was an administrator [VP] at North High School. And now I'm on this journey of being the Principal here at Moulton. My education background is Elementary Education and have always looked forward to the opportunity of serving a school just like Moulton. I couldn't be more thrilled with being the Principal here and I'm looking forward to building on the strengths that Moulton students and families already have.

I was born and raised in the metropolis city of Fairmont, Minnesota and came to Des Moines in 1995 to attend Grand View College (now University).  During my time there I played baseball and soccer for the Vikings and also was part of the Drake University’s hockey team.  I graduated from Grand View in 1999 with a major in Mathematics and Secondary Education.

Right out of college I received a position for a long-term substitute at Roosevelt High School where I taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.  In 2000 I was hired to teach 6th grade mathematics at Callanan Middle School.  After being there four years, I decided I wanted to go back to high school and Roosevelt had a position, so I taught Algebra 1 there from 2004-2008.  In 2008 I decided I wanted to help student prepare for high school as I saw quite a few students coming not ready.  I went back to Callanan and taught 8th grade Mathematics and Algebra 1.

In 2012 I decided to go back to school at Drake University to work on my Master’s in Educational Leadership which I completed this last May.   Last year I decided to leave Callanan and focus on Leadership roles, so I went to Goodrell Middle School as the Behavior Strategist.  Now this year I am fortunate to be here at Moulton Elementary and I am excited to work with the staff, parents, students, and community of Moulton.

Let’s have a GREAT 2014-2015 school year!!!!
