Welcome to 2nd Grade! A little bit about me… I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1996. I followed with a degree in Elementary Education and a Social Studies Endorsement in 2002. In 2010, I received a Master of Arts in Education with a Reading Endorsement from Viterbo University. I have taught at Moulton Extended Learning Center since July of 2006. I hold high expectations for every student, every day. I believe children learn best in a loving, safe, and structured environment.
I am a member of the Student Success Committee and SILT ( School Improvement Leadership Team).
My passions are teaching, travel, and family.
I grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School. I went on to attend the University of Iowa, GO HAWKEYES! I graduated from Iowa with a B.A. in International Studies and minors in French and Art History. After working a few years for the UI College of Public Health after college, I decided to follow my heart and go back to school to become a teacher. I started my Master’s program in elementary education at the University of Las Vegas, and then returned home to Des Moines to finish up my graduate program at Drake University, graduating in 2016 with my Master of Science in Teaching (MST): Elementary Certification and Reading Endorsement.
I started at Moulton in August of 2016 as an interventionist and have so far taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. I am committed to our community and building lasting, meaningful relationships with our students and helping them grow as lifelong learners! When I am not teaching, I like to spend time with my family and friends, cheer on my Hawkeyes, decorate, read, try new restaurants, and plan my next trip.
I love children and I am so excited to be here at Moulton! I grew up in Boone, Iowa but I went to college in Texas at the University of Houston. I graduated in 2014 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I love spending time with my husband, family, and my dog named Jack. I love going for walks and taking my dog to the park. I also love to read and go to the movies. I look forward to a great year!
My name is Kevin Huck. I am the Behavior strategist here at Moulton. I graduated from East High School here in Des Moines and earned a degree from Iowa State University in elementary education. I have spent nearly eighteen years teaching and coaching in Missouri. I also earned a master’s degree in education during my time in Missouri. I am very happy to be back home in Des Moines and thrilled to be part of such a wonderful group of educators here at Moulton Elementary School. I consider it a privilege to help all of our students become great citizens and lifelong learners.
